Samarinda – Mulawarman University in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, has been suspected of allegedly collecting illegal levies from students of Master of Management program in the amount of Rp3.99 million for six years. The campus is indicated of not being able to account for funds of Rp2.5 billion.

The data was revealed during a verdict trial by East Kalimantan Information Commission (KI) held on Tuesday (25/10/2016). The trial was attended by Working Group (Pokja) 30 as plaintiff and Faculty of Economy of Mulawarman University as defendant.

East Kalimantan KI then ordered Mulawarman University to publish data and information on their finance that comes from the public.

“The defendant must carry out their obligation, as stipulated in Law No. 14/2008 about Public Information Openness,” said East Kalimantan KI chairman Senci Han.

The verdict trial is the second trial, after the first trial that was held on Friday (21/10/2016). “We hope universities can be barometer for public information openness,” said Senci.
