Jakarta, Kebebasaninformasi.org – A number of civil society organizations from various regions in Indonesia will hold national meetings for strengthening coordination to oversee the implementation of Open Government Partnership (OGP) in the reign of Joko Widodo – Jusuf Kalla. The meeting held in Jakarta on November, 19-20th, 2014, will discuss strategic issues which will be submitted to the government.

This event will be discussing three major challenges that must be responded by civil society in Indonesia: first, to make sure the OGP agenda is implemented and being priority in the new government. Second, make sure that the OGP not only be an international initiative, but also national and local initiatives that are rooted in the need to solve issues in the country. Third, CSO’s in Indonesia requires effective coordination patterns and also representative.

One of the executors of this event, Ahmad Faisol, Executive Director of Medialink, said the meeting will formulate an agreement among civil society organizations so that the OGP program is grounded and useful to society. “Later, we will create an action plan and orientation on the issues that will be advocated by the CSO,” he said.

He confirmed that there are several strategic issues that have been classified and will be discussed in detail in this national meeting. “The strategic issue is the budget and the tax transformation, parliamentary openness and political openness, law enforcement and judicial, rural development and public service,” said Faisol.

Further Faisol stated, during the implementation of OGP in the government still nonsense. OGP Implementation seems forced and incomplete. While in civil society, only a few are encouraging and advocating this OGP.

“This OGP is less grounded, our hope is to make this OGP as national movement and the benefits can be felt directly by the people,” he concluded.
