Indonesian Parliamentary Center (IPC) will hold the discussion with theme “Implementation Review of KIP Laws on Parliament (DPR RI)”, on Thursday, January 16th, 2014, at Parliament Cafeteria. The speakers that’ll present on this discussion including The Chief of Information Manager and Documentation of Parliament, Djaka Dwi Winarno, Member of Central Information Commission, Yhannu Setywan, and Director of Indonesian Parliamentary Center, Sulastio.

According to Sulastio, since the Laws No. 14 of 2008 on Public Information Openness, was applied on 2010, The parliament has made a number of improvements on information services, like made the rules to implement the laws of KIP at Parliament, appointed the official of Information Manager and Documentation, formed the special office for information services, made and published the annual reports, made a standard operational procedures of information services, and gave the better services than before. Most of the improvements effort were initiative from Parliament General Secretariat.

He hopes the positive steps from Parliament General Secretariat is needs to improve in the future, so that the process of information services in Parliament will much better. A few things that can ease the relation of Parliament and public on information services, including information lists that under the authority of parliament, existence of information classification, existence of consequence test on information that declared to be excluded, existence of standard mechanism between PPID and fraction secretariat and fittings, website should enabled to provide the public information public, and etc.

During this time, there so many other side that did the information request to the Parliament. They absolutely had an experience that can be input for Parliament. Therefore, according to him, Indonesian Parliamentary Center (IPC) means to dig up experience and some input from the citizen associated to the information services at Parliament, and facilitated a number another citizen in order to know the right on information and information services mechanism at Parliament.

The purpose of this discussion is to find out how far the information progress about KIP Laws at Parliament and notes of Parliament General Secretariat during interact with information applicants, dig up the learning from participants according to experience on doing the information request to the Parliament, and discuss how the ideal condition on information openness at Parliament.
