Many of local officials don’t understand the law No. 14 of 2008 on Openness and the meaning of transparency. Implementation of Law in the government is still weak.
“How will you commit to implement, if the official don’t understand the law,” said Juniardi, The Chairman of Lampung Information Commission, on Friday (January 17th, 2014).
According to him, the lack of understanding from local official is not separated of the lack of effort from Ministry of Internal Affairs as those parties that associated with local government.
“Ministry of Internal Affairs is just become the latest ministry which formed the Information and Documentation Officer (PPID). Yes, this ministry is already too late,” he protested.
In this time, he said, Ministry of Internal Affairs has formed the Assistance Team to Accelerate Implementation of Freedom of Information Law. However, unfortunately many people who are not involved in the team e.g. Information Commission and NGO concerned with the openness.
According to him, the team should also have a comprehensive and systematic program so that the implementation of the Freedom of Information Law can quickly up to the remote area.
