Tangerang – Freedom of Information Network Indonesia (FoINI) or civil society organizations network and individual who intensive to push openness in Indonesia give an award to the Election Commission and Kawalpemilu.org. This award is named FoINI Innovation Award.
According to Widiyarti from PATTIRO which incorporated in FoINI, the first award made by FoINI was given at the Sofyan Hotel on last Thursday (August 14th) due to their help in information fulfillment of the 2014 presidential elections.
Widi explained, the Commission has been appreciated over the awareness to open the C1 document that never been before. While for kawalpemilu.org has been appreciated due to their application that help the public find out the information when needed.
Especially for kawalpemilu.org, Widi added, FoINI give the award because it made by public voluntarily involving hundreds of people and the use of technology which ease the fulfillment of information.
When asked this award will continue or not, Widi said, FoINI Innovation Award will be given again to those who make progressive innovation to push openness and information fulfillment.
“The awareness from some people that understand the importance of our participation so that it can push the other since this is joint action in everywhere,” he explained in Ara Hotel, Serpong, Banten, on Saturday (August 16th) when asked about the emergence phenomenon of kawalpemilu.org.
While Desiana Samosir from IPC which also incorporated in FoINI said, the emergence of kawalpemilu.org indicating that public had been embarrassed by the transactional political process that has been happening all time. Then due to the embarrassment, various ways are used by people to oversee the election process.
“They are volunteers and have the ability to build applications as awareness. The meeting between idea and ability have opened a new breakthrough with the headline of C1 form opening. Supervision does not need to be done at the polling station. Supervision can be done anytime anywhere with the help of technology,” he concluded.
