Central Information Commission assesses there is a shift in the theme of information requested during 2013. The previous year, request for information was dominated by the financial report of public institution, the document of Government Budget Plan and DIPA. “Now the issue of information request is more to the contract and supporting documents involving a third party. More deeply,” said the Commissioner of Central Information Commission Henny S. Widyaningsih when interviewed on the visit of South Kalimantan Information Commission establishment on Wednesday (February 12nd, 2014).

This shift is reasonable, said Henny, because the information in the public institution has begun to open to the public and more easily to be accessed. Nowadays, people tend to want to know substance more detailed.

Information Commission was established in 2010 based on the mandate of Law No. 14 of 2008. Since establishment until the end of 2013, said Henny, the Commission received reports of 800 cases of information dispute. From that amount, the Commission is only able to complete about 65 percent of information dispute. He hopes that the Central Information Commission can complete 80 percent of dispute that goes up until the end of 2014.

Vice Chairman of the Information Commission, John Fresly, said the establishment of the Information Commission is very important in order to guarantee access of information to public. John hopes South Kalimantan immediately assign the members of Information Commission which is the stages still currently hampered in the selection process at local council. “From the 34 provinces, now currently formed 24 of Information Commission in the province,” said John.

A spokesman for South Kalimantan Haris Makkie, welcomed the establishment of the Information Commission in South Kalimantan. From the 50 application file to fill the commissioner position of provincial information commission, currently screened 15 applicants who follow the selection process by the local council.
