Rumadi, one of the Commissioner of Central Information Commission (KIP) asked the public institution to deliver the accurate information about disaster condition to the people as soon as possible. If it is late or not accurate in providing information that related to natural disasters which occurred in Indonesia, public institution can be considered of guilty.

“If there is a category of information which not necessarily related to disaster haven’t informed or not informed accurately, then it could be considered that public institution made ??a mistake”, said Rumadi on his statement on Saturday (February 15th 2014).

Rumadi explained, the chain of natural disasters that occurred in Indonesia lately required speed and accuracy of information about the current situation in the disaster area. On that basis, he didn’t find any reason if there is a public institution that delaying to inform real information that actually had been controlled.

Personally, he appreciates the public institution that responsive in providing information during floods or the eruption of Mount Sinabung in Karo, North Sumatra, or the eruption of Mount Kelud in Kediri, East Java. He assessed public information that provided by public institution was relatively good although there are still some shortcomings in the side.

“A series of disasters in Indonesia requires a fast and accurate information in order to not cause a lot of victims from the disaster. Information in the category of public information that should be announced soon”, he said.
