Central Commission of Information has published The Regulation of Information Commission No. 1 of 2014 about Standard of Service and Procedure to solve the Election Information Dispute. Through these rules, Central Information Commission can shorten the time to process the information services and the dispute resolution related to the election.

“Because the election is a series of scheduled activities and systematically with the prescribed time limit, it is also necessary legal instruments that can overcome the time of elections administration, one of them is by speeding up (acceleration) the services of election information process in a public election institution organizer and the process of disputes resolving at The Information Commission” said Chairman of The Information Commission Abdulhamid Dipopramono on press conference at the office of The Information Commission, Jakarta, Tuesday (March, 18th, 2014).

Abdulhamid said there is some emphasis in this rules, including information of the compliance period that is shortened. For example, the time to answer the applicant of information was shortened to 2 days of work from 10 working days before.

“And later than 30 working days to respond the objections of information is shortened into three days” said Abdulhamid.

He also presented information about the application process. According to Abdulhamid, a request for information can be submitted to the organizers of the election as the General Election Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Institution (Bawaslu).

If no satisfaction with the information that provided by the two agencies above, the applicant may re-apply to requests for information to the supervisor of the person or unit or division in KPU or Bawaslu who asked for information. If it still not satisfied, he said, the applicant can sue the two institutions to The Information Commission.

“The dispute in this office or area, The Provincial Information Commission or existing districts, ” he said .

Commissioner of General Election Commission, Ferry Kurnia Rizkiyansyah who attended the press conference at the Office of the Information Commission claimed that he is ready to rush the provision of information about the election to the applicant.

“It is important for us to rush the information. We have a commitment from the start to be more transparent according to the provisions of law”, he said.
