Jakarta – Indonesia Budget Center (IBC) has sent 17 requests for information in the form of documents and information organizer to the Election Commission of South Sulawesi. The result, as many as 59 documents were not provided. Documents which provided by them is related to the elections.

It expressed by IBC researcher Affan Nasir as reported by Fajar newspaper, on Sunday, June 29th, 2014. According to Affan, from the document that been requested, when he asked the transparency of procurements, they enclosed on this information.

Affan also regretted that election stakeholders did not form the official of Information and Documentation Management (PPID). In fact, he said, there was PPID activity in the SulawesiElection Commission with budget around IDR 22 million. “We tried to access it on the website, but it was no there. We also check in PPID, but it was no presence. Thus, lack of transparency, the election commission is still questionable,” he explained.

Vice Chairman of South Sulawesi Information Commission, Rayudaswati suggested that non-government institution should go to KIP immediately if there is any information that covered deliberately. Currently, the rules regarding the violations of public information was already provided in the regulations of Information Commission No. 1 of 2013. The rule is more severe, within two days, the KIP decision had to be taken,” he said.

South Sulawesi Election Commission accuse that IBC is not valid

Previously, another IBC researcher, Roy Salam, said this year’s General Elections Commission (KPU) and the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of South Sulawesi received huge budget. The commission received IDR 23 billion previously, and now it is increased to IDR 441 billion, while Bawaslu received 117 billion.

With that kind of budget, according to Roy, election stakeholders seem wasteful. Roy said the election voter education budget reached IDR 1.4 billion. The amount is too much, while the role of voter education is inseparable from the role of political parties.

“It is too much. Its activity is also not visible clearly,” he said in the Forum Group Discussion (FGD) that held by Yasmib Foundation at Switzerland Belinn, Makassar, Friday (27/6).

KPU Sulawesi through the Head of Public Relation Marlang Asrar, as reported by Fajar newspaper on June 29th, 2014, the IBC discovery were less of clarification that do not synchronized in the field.

Indeed, we are allocating (IDR 441 billion), but not all of the budget that we’ve wear, if we were not use it, we also returned the budget to the country,” he said.

But the Fajar newspaper do not reported the election commission response on the allegations of IBC on public information mentioned above.

While, the Chairman of South Sulawesi Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu Sulsel), Laode Arumahi said the budget issues in the election are totally unrelated to the commissioner in the election commission and the Election Supervisory Body. According to him, it is the responsibility of the secretariat. (Fajar / AA)
